FAQs

Do I need to know how to draw?

I find that because my students have been writing since kindergarten, most people have no issues learning how to tattoo, and the speed at which they master the craft depends on how much they practice and execute what they’ve learned during class. The people who do the best in class typically have a desire to be there, and are moderately creative.

Will I really know how to tattoo after two days?

We find the average person is fairly skilled within 6 to 12 months of completing our course, easily able to generate around 10 K per month.

Where will I work?

Most salons have no problem renting to you for one or two days a week, and it is fairly easy to get a commission place at most and beauty locations following class. You just need to make sure the place is set up with the department of health already. Find somewhere that already offers permanent makeup or tattooing / piercing .

Licensing

My recommendation is to reach out to the health department in your county by visiting the state website dept of health body art and then the state you will be working in.

Here is Louisiana’s : https://ldh.la.gov/page/food-and-drug-unit

State to state the licensing for tattooing is different. I will be referring to Louisiana and Kentuckys laws which also differ from each other.

Insurance

During class I will give you my best recommendation for insurance which is alternative balance. https://alternativebalance.com

My recommendation is to give them a call and explain to them your business and they will advise you which level of coverage you need. I use them and there really easy to work with.

Will I need to do anything prior to class?

Yes you will need to have completed your blood pathogen online course. Each state is different for the one that you may need to register with but here is Louisianas.

This one is $35 done yearly with Red Cross

In Louisiana you will also need to do your CPR/ First Aid online course and in person. This does not need to be done before class and can be found on the dept of health website for which ones qualify. This is good for 2 years. ( Kentucky this is not required of you)
